Tiger's eye (tigers eye, tiger eye, tiger iron) is a member of the quartz group of chalcedonies. It is one of the chatoyant gemstones, which means it has a silky luster that changes as light reflects within the thin, fibrous bands in the material. Tiger Iron is an altered rock composed chiefly of tiger's eye, red jasper and black hematite. Tiger's Eye beads can be cut and faceted, carved, made into large pendants, and polished into rounds, ovals, disc beads, tubes, and briolettes. Colors range from black to brown, gold, and tan.
