Chalcedony is a microcrystalline quartz that takes dye easily. It has a waxy sheen when polished and may have veins, bands or spots of color running throughout. Because of its moderate hardness, it can be cut into a variety of shapes. Generally speaking, Chalcedony is never used in its natural rough form as it takes polishing to bring out its hidden beauty. Examples of Chalcedony include carnelian, agate, cat's eye and jasper. Beadaholique.com has a variety of dyed Chalcedony in beautiful colors from pale Aqua, Blue, Pink, and deep Violet.
