Another in the rather extensive microcrystalline Quartz family, Chrysoprase is usually found in attractive shades of green due to traces of nickel within the stone. Chrysoprase is not as commonly occurring as its relatives, and so it can be very desirable to use in jewelry. Chrysoprase is sometimes mistaken for Jadite. Shades of green range from opaque palest yellow green on to translucent emerald green. Stones often show brown and beige veins.
