Apple Blossom Macrame Bracelet

PROJECT PROJ-JB-B0013
Designer: Julie Bean
Skill Level: Intermediate
This double-wrap macrame bracelet has been designed in yummy shades of blue and features a pretty apple blossom button as its closure. The design comes together quickly and the only tool needed is a pair of scissors.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

To make this project, you will be following a video for a very similar project. There will be several slight changes which are noted below. Also, do not burn your threads or use a lighter for this project (skip all these steps that are shown in the video).
  1. Begin by measuring two lengths of cord: 2 feet and 12 feet.
  2. Please watch the video: How to Make a Multi Wrap Beaded Macrame Square Knot Bracelet Using Brazilian Waxed Cord. You will be making the double-wrap version that the designer in the video mentions but please use the cord measurements stated in the previous step.
  3. Start your project the same way as in the video. Do not snip the extra "short tail" as shown in the video and do not use a lighter in this project.
  4. Braid 1/2" of macrame square knots without beads. Next, create macrame square knots with beads adding a total of 5 beads (following the technique shown in the video). At this point, once you have a total of about 1" of your bracelet started, you can snip your "short" tail. Continue now braiding 1/2" of square knots without beads, a section of square knots with beads (5 beads), a section without beads, a section with beads, and so on, until you have your desired bracelet length for a double-wrap design.
  5. The video shows you snipping your center thread at this point—do not do this. Take all three threads and create a knot loop for your button (following the same method as in the video). If you want to create a second loop to make the bracelet adjustable, you can, or you can go with one loop.
  6. Finally, to finish your design, tie little knots on your tails about 1/4" from your button loop and trim excess cord. Again, do not use a lighter or anything to burn your threads. They will be fine and will not unravel on their own.
