Making A Custom Filigree Necklace Bail

This technique can be used with many different types of filigree and connectors. Add opulence and a vintage touch to any pendant. Below are just some suggested connectors to use. If you are using a large cord or pendant, you may wish to use an even larger filigree.

Necessary Tools:
Beadsmith Jeweller's Micro Pliers Chain Nose Flat Nose Bail Making Pliers - Round Ends 6mm/8.5mm For Filigree Wrapping Wire Work

Materials List:
One Vintaj connector. Possibilities include: Vintaj Natural Brass 2-Hole Deco Window Connector Beads 28mm Vintaj Natural Brass Fleur De Lis Connector Beads 27mm Vintaj Natural Brass 3 Hole Nouveau Connector Link 30mm Vintaj Natural Brass 2 Hole Deco Bar Connector / Bail Beads One 4.75mm Jump Ring

Instructions Step 1: Hold your connector in your bail-making pliers.
Face the back of the connector towards the smaller barrel of the pliers.
Step 2: Curve your connector.
Bend one end of the connector following the curve of the smaller barrel. Repeat on the opposite end of the connector.
Step 3: Finish the bale.
Use your bale making pliers to round out any awkward bends by gently crimping down while following the curve of the bale. Use your chain nose pliers to line up the holes on each end of the bale Put the jump ring through the aligned holes, and hang your pendant from the jump ring.
