Instructions:

Note: This bracelet pattern makes for a tight fitting cuff which is about 6 1/2 inches in circumference. Measure your wrist before you begin and add 12 rows of 11/0 Toho beads per half inch. So if you need to add an inch to the total length of the bracelet, you will need to add 24 rows of 11/0 Toho beads. Since there are 6 black stripes in the bracelet, you will need to add 4 additional rows to each stripe. Conversely, if you wish to make the cuff smaller, subtract rows. Just remember you want all your stripes to be of an even width, so what ever you do to one stripe, make sure to do it to all.
  1. This project uses the flat even count peyote bead weaving stitch, and because we are going to be using two different sizes of Toho beads, the effect will be that of a wavy 3-dimensional bracelet. Watch this video here on how to do the peyote stitch.

  2. Cut 8 feet of your black beading thread and place a stop bead on one end, approximately 8 inches from the tail. Thread the needle onto your beading thread. String 22 11/0 Toho seed beads in jet black. Now bead weave a total of 11 rows using the peyote stitch (11 including your original row).

  3. Next, again just using the peyote stitch, bead 10 rows of 8/0 Toho seed beads in transparent hyacinth. Even though you have incorporated a larger bead, do not alter your pattern or how many you stitch. This will create a wavy 3-d look.

  4. Repeat the above two steps until you have a total of 6 black stripes and 5 orange stripes. All these stripes require quite a lot of thread. I had to end my thread and add another 8 foot length a total of 2 more times (so 24 feet total of thread). To see how to do this, see this video.

  5. Make sure once you have fully beaded your bracelet that you incorporate your thread back into the bead work and tie it off following the lessons learned in the previous video. You will need to remove your stop bead and incorporate that thread into you bead work as well.

  6. Now we need to add our toggle clasps. First we will attach all the hoop parts to one side. Thread 3 feet of beading thread onto your needle. Do not add a stop bead. Work the thread into your bead work near the corner of the end you first started beading. You want to pass your needle and thread back through some of the original beads you first beaded, eventually get to the point where you pass through the first 3 beads you strung. Next, pass your needle through the small loop at the base of the hoop part of one of your toggle clasps. Continuing along the edge of the bracelet, pass your needle and thread through the next 8 beads. Make sure to be pulling snug so that the clasp part is fully secured. Now pass your needle through the small loop at the base of the hoop part of another one of your toggle clasps. Pass through another 8 beads, add another toggle clasp hoop, and then through the remaining 3 beads along the edge. Work your thread back into the bead work and tie off. See the photo if you need any help seeing how these are aligned.

  7. Now we will attach all the toggle bars. Following the same initial process as the precious step, thread 3 feet of beading thread onto your needle and go to the other end of the bracelet. Work the thread into your bead work (again, do not use a stop bead) and keep working it in until you end up along the edge, starting at one corner. Pass the needle and thread through the first 2 beads. Pull taught and string onto the thread 5 11/0 Toho seed beads in jet black, the loop at the base of your toggle bar, another 5 11/0 Tohos in black. Now skip over the 3rd bead along the edge of your bracelet and pass your needle and thread through the 4th bead, thus creating a loop with the toggle bar on the end. Pull taught. Pass your thread and needle through the 5th - 11th bead along the edge. Pull the thread taught and string onto it 5 11/0 Toho seed beads in jet black, the loop at the base of your toggle bar, another 5 11/0 Tohos in black. Now skip over the 12th bead along the edge of your bracelet and pass your needle and thread through the 13th bead, thus creating a loop with the toggle bar on the end. Pull taught. Pass your thread and needle through the 14th - 19th bead along the edge. String onto the thread 5 11/0 Toho seed beads in jet black, the loop at the base of your toggle bar, another 5 11/0 Tohos in black. Skip over the 20th bead and then pass your thread and needle through the 21st and 22nd bead. You should now be at the end of your length.

  8. Happy Halloween!

Tip: Not in the mood for Halloween but like this pattern? Just change out the transparent Hyacinth 8/0 Toho seed bead for another color. Perhaps a nice grey or blue, maybe even a metallic.

Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
