Instructions:
- Check out this for a complete step-by-step video tutorial on making this pretty accessory!
-
Using a pair of scissors, cut out the large round butterfly on your collage sheet. Gently place it on top of the bezel setting attached to the purse hanger. You just want to make sure it will fit when you glue it and that you have an idea for the orientation of the image compared to the hook. If it looks a little big, gently trim it down.
-
Spread a layer of Nunn glue on the backside of your cut-out butterfly image, making sure the glue goes all the way to the edges. Flip over and press into the bezel setting. Let dry for 20 minutes.
-
Using a paint brush, paint on an even layer of Nunn Sealant over the top of the image, making sure to go all the way to the edges. Let dry for 20 minutes and then repeat with another layer of sealant. Let dry again and repeat with a 3rd layer of sealant. All these layers will help prevent any discoloration of your image when you add the resin on top.
-
After the sealer is completely dry, fill your bezel half way with Gel du Soliel UV resin. Let sit for a few minutes to see if any bubbles arise. If bubbles become present, carefully pop them with a sharp needle. Place into the UV light for 20 minutes.
-
Remove your purse hanger from the UV light and fill the bezel up to the top rim but not going over. After checking for bubbles, return to the UV light again for another 20 minutes.
-
Remove from the UV light and you now have 2 choices: you can be done and it looks great! OR if you want a slightly domed appearance, squeeze several drops of UV resin into the middle of your bezel, directly on top of your previous layers. You are going to need to have the surface tension work with you to help dome the resin. Keep adding drops to the middle until you have about a nickel size amount. At this point, use the tip of your UV resin bottle as an applicator to push the resin towards the sides of the round. Gently work your way around the circle, pushing the resin towards all the edges at an even rate. Less is more with this process, so start out slow. If you sense that you do not have enough resin, add a few more drops to the middle and continue to push outward. Do not add the drops to the edge.
-
Once you are happy with your doming, check for any bubbles, remove them, and CAREFULLY transfer to the UV light. When you carry it to the UV light, make sure to hold it completely level and not at a tilt, we don't want to spill the resin. Let cure in the UV light for 20 minutes.
-
Enjoy!

Tip: Personalize this project with family photos or even embed some charms and objects between the layers or resin.
Also, if you live in a very sunny climate, UV resin will cure in the sunlight. It takes longer then the UV light but it will cure. Just make sure you have direct sunshine over a prolonged period of time.
Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
