Instructions:
Remember to double these instructions to make your matched pair of earrings.
- Before you begin, watch the video: How to do Square Stitch in Bead Weaving.
-
Thread a size 12 beading needle with white Wildfire beading thread.
-
Use Miyuki Delica seed beads size 11/0 in light fuchsia lined crystal AB and pink lined crystal AB to weave your striped square.
-
Start with fuchsia beads and work two rows 11 beads long in square stitch. Then do two rows with pink. Continue this pattern until your piece is 10 rows wide.
-
Tie off and weave in your threads.
-
Use a pair of flush cutters to cut eleven 2" lengths of sterling silver flat cable chain.
-
Turn your woven piece at a 45 degree angle.
-
Thread your needle with a new length of Wildfire and weave it along the bottom edges of your woven piece, attaching 5 lengths of chain to each of the bottom sides, with one additional length at the bottom point. See photo for placement reference.
-
Tie off and weave in your ends.
-
Open a sterling silver 3mm, 22 gauge jump ring and place a pink seed bead on it. Then put it through the last link on the first chain and close it up. Repeat this process across the 10 remaining chains, alternating fuchsia and pink seed beads.
-
Open another jump ring and gently bring it through the seed bead at the top corner of your woven piece. Place a sterling silver earring hook onto the jump ring and close it up.
|
Decide whether you'd like your stripes to be symmetrical or to face the same way, and make sure that you place them correctly when you attach the earring hooks.
Variations
Play with color combinations to give these earrings a different feel. When substituting in items, pay attention to sizes and styles to make sure all your pieces will fit together.

Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
