Instructions:
- Remember to repeat the below instructions to make your matched pair of earrings! It is easiest to make both earrings at the same time instead of making one complete earring and then going back to make it's pair. The resin involves a wait time of 3 days so you will want to be making both earrings at once.
-
Begin by taking out your transfer sheet and finding the small square image that perfectly matches the size of the interior of your square bezel. Cut out the square and follow the directions on the back of the transfer sheet to adhere the transfer to the bezel. After you have dabbed away any remaining water, using a paint brush, apply a thin coat of Nunn Sealer to the top of the image, making sure to get into the corners and around the edges of the image. Let dry for at least 30 minutes before going onto the next step.
-
Mix your resin (V-LINK) and pour a thin layer over the top of the transfer in the bezel, make sure not to over-fill. You want the resin to come up to the top of the bezel sides but not go over the edge and spill out. Let sit for 5 minutes before returning and checking for bubbles. If bubbles are present, remove them using a heat source such as butane lighter, micro-flame torch, heat gun, etc. Swipe the heat source over the top of the resin (do not touch the resin or rest the heat source directly on it, you do not want to disturb the resin or burn anything). Keep checking in on the resin for about 30 minutes and remove any bubbles present. At this point, place some type of box or lid over your resin pieces (hovering, not touching), you are just trying to keep any dust from settling into your resin. The resin will harden in 24 hours and cure in 3 days.
-
While your resin is hardening, make the rest of your earring.
-
Cut 3 inches of silver colored wire. Make a wrapped wire loop on one end and thread onto it:
- 1 pewter coil edge spacer
- 1 8mm jet black round druk bead
- 1 pewter coil edge spacer
Create a wrapped wire loop at the end and cut off excess wire.
-
Open a jump ring and connect one end of the beaded length you just made to the bottom hole of you faceted diamond stud post earring. Close the jump ring. Place an earring back on the post of your earring.
-
Once your resin has fully cured within your bezel, connect it to the bottom wrapped wire loop of the earring you just made above using a jump ring.
|
Do not move your resin pieces around while they are drying or to check for bubbles, keep them stationary - it's too easy to tip them, drop them, or accidently put your finger in the resin.
Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
