French Lace Earrings
Project E604 Designer: Julie Bean
Layers of filigree in tones of brass, wine purple, and white set the scene for these french inspired earrings.
A solitary bird adds a romantic touch and Swarovski crystal beads add just the right amount of elegance.
NOTE: The earring hook used in this project has been discontinued and a slightly different hook has replaced it. The overall look of the earrings will not change much, but the hook will be very slightly larger than that shown in the photo.

Instructions:
- Begin by gluing your filigree layers together. To do this, use a toothpick or small piece of wire to spread a small amount of E6000 adhesive on one side of your purple filigree round. Try to just get the glue on the metal itself and not in the filigree holes. Place this piece on top of your white filigree, slightly off center so that there is more white on one end then the other. Press into place with your fingers. If any glue seeps out the holes of the filigree, take a clean piece of wire and poke it through the holes to remove some of the glue. Now spread some E6000 adhesive on the back side of your Vintaj damascus chandelier drop - just put the glue on the bottom rounded area, not the stem or top. Place this piece on top of the purple filigree you just glued to the white filigree, place it towards the top of the filigree, not centered. See photo. Press into place and again try to remove any of the glue that seeps through the filigree holes. Set aside and let dry.
-
Cut 3 inches of your 24 gauge brass wire. Create a wrapped wire loop at one end and thread onto the wire a 4mm Swarvoski bicone bead in light amethyst, a Czech glass fire polished rondelle in metallic brown iris, a Vintaj Arte Metal bead cap, and another 4mm Swarovski bicone. Finish by creating a wrapped wire loop and cutting off excess wire using your flush cutters.
-
Open a 4mm brass jump ring and place onto it the filigree layers that you made in step one, attaching the jump ring through the small loop at the top of the brass filigree stem. Also place onto the jump ring 1 Vintaj Arte Metal bird, and the beaded section you made in step 2 (attaching it through the wrapped wire loop on the side without the bead cap). Close the jump ring.
-
Take your earring hook and open the loop at the bottom just as you would open a jump ring. Attach it to the top wrapped wire loop of the beaded earring you just made. Close the loop.
-
Make the second earring the same way as the first. Enjoy!

Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
