Crystal Bronze Shade Etruscan Earrings
Project E606 Designer: Julie Bean
Swarovski crystal bronze shade mini pear pendant drops shimmer below intricate Vintaj brass filigree in
these Etruscan inspired earrings. You can almost imagine them being worn by a lady of ancient Rome or on
display at a museum in Florence
NOTE: The earring hook used in this project has been discontinued and a slightly different hook has replaced it. The overall look of the earrings will not change much, but the hook will be very slightly larger than that shown in the photo.

Instructions:
- Remember to double these directions so that you make a matched pair of earrings!
-
Take one of your Vintaj brass filigrees and using your chain nose pliers, gently close the bottom decorative swirls so that they form nice "loops" to use in the next step. Using your chain nose pliers, just squeeze the brass scroll so that it meets the body of the filigree.
-
Cut a 7 inch length of Vintaj 26 gauge wire and start making a around one of the Swarovski crystal bronze shade 8mm mini pendant drops. Make sure the the end that you are going to be wrapping around the drop is 5 inches long. Start wrapping and keep wrapping around the top of the drop, over and over until you get to the bead hole. Then trim off excess wire with flush cutters. For the top part of your briolette wrap, make the loop and thread through it one of the bottom "loops" of your filigree. Finish the top part of your briolette wrap so that you have a loop at the top (which is already connected to the filigree) and the wrapping from it meets the bottom wrapping. You want it to look as much like a continual wrap as possible even though two ends of wire technically make up this wrap. Repeat this entire step with another two of the Swarovski drops.
-
Cut 5 inches of Vintaj 26 gauge wire. Against the top back side of the filigree, line up 1/4 inch of wire and press against the filigree, you want to position it so that the tail of your wire is sticking up towards the top hole of the filigree. Still holding the 1/4 inch of wire in place, wrap the tail of the wire around the "neck" of the filigree, starting close up to the top hole but not covering it. Start an even, tight wrapping so that you are working your way down the neck of the filigree and covering that 1/4 inch you were holding in place. Keep wrapping until the 1/4 inch is completely covered. Cut off excess wire with flush cutters and take your chain nose pliers to press the rough wire end into the wrapping so that there is not a sharp exposed end.
-
Open the bottom hoop of your brass french ear wire the same way you would open a jump ring. Slide the top loop of your Vintaj filigree into this hoop and close the hoop.

Tip: Your Swarovski crystal bronze shade mini pear pendants have a coated side and a shimmering crystal side. Choose which side your prefer before beginning your project, and then when attaching your crystals, make sure that they all face the same way, showing the side your prefer.
Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
