Wicked Earrings
Project E628 [Skill Level: Beginner]
Designer: Julie Bean
Sparkling green glitter shimmers against a black background in these wicked witchy earrings. A fun retro
hexagon shape has been chosen for this project but the mold allows you to choose if you want to make
ovals, squares, or trapezoids too.

Instructions:
Note: for this project you will also need a plastic mixing cup and stir stick (such as a popsicle stick) to mix your resin. Any disposable cup will work. Also, you will need to purchase some green glitter at the craft store, try to find an emerald colored glitter.

-
Remember to make your matched set of earrings at the same time.
-
To begin this project, condition your mold with the mold release spray. Spray it into the cavities and let dry.
-
Mix your ice resin thoroughly and once it is fully mixed, add 1 - 2 drops of black pigment. Continue mixing until all striations have dissipated. Now add glitter. Start by adding about 1/2 tsp of green glitter to your resin in the cup, mix thoroughly. We have found that just when you think you have enough glitter, add more! We were happier with the results when more was added, you want the resin "thick" with glitter, especially since you have a black base, you need the green to show through. Now pour the resin into your molds. I like to actually take my stir stick and drip resin into the mold center, a little at a time. I feel I have more control this way and less chance of spilling. For this set of earrings, I only filled each hexagon mold half way. Watch this video for a more detailed explanation of mixing resin, adding pigment, and pouring into the mold.
-
Let your resin fully cure in your mold for 3 days. After 3 days, press on the back of the mold to pop your objects out.
-
Place a dab of E6000 adhesive on the back of a glue-on earring post. Press this into the center of the backside of your glitter resin piece. Do this for the other resin piece as well. Let dry overnight. Take an earring back and place one on each of the posts.
-
All done! You just made yourself a pair of molded resin earrings.

Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
