Skull Clip-On Earrings

Funky yet strangely elegant, these skull earrings are very cool! Being clip-ons adds an almost vintage, retro
feel to them.

Instructions:
NOTE: You will want to use your utility/household wire cutters for this project - do NOT use your fine jewelry flush or wire cutters.

Remember to double these directions to make your matched set of earrings.

Begin this project by putting on your safety goggles, and using your household wire cutters, snip off the button shank as close to the back, flat-side of the button as possible (related video: How to Remove a Button Shank). You will most likely not be able to remove the entire shank, but just part of it.

Using your diamond file, carefully file down the remaining shank remnant on the back of your button. I found it easiest to turn the button upside down and cradle it in a tea towel, this helped me hold onto the button better and also helped with the filing. Keep sanding it down until you have a smooth back side to the button without any remnant of the shank remaining.

Place a dab of E6000 on the glue-on tab of one of your clip-on earrings. Center and press this onto the backside of your button. Make sure that the orientation of the clip-on earring matches up to the orientation on the skull.

Let dry!

Note: These skull buttons are on the heavier side and that is why they were made into clip-on earrings instead of post.
Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
