The Autumn Forest Necklace

This necklace reminds me of jumping into a pile of autumn leaves, or strolling through the woods in the fall. A jumble of laser cut wooden leaves are accented with a pair of acorns and a watchful owl in this statement piece.

Instructions:
- Cut two natural and one brown length of hemp twine each three feet long. Group the strands together and tie an overhand knot a few inches from one end.

Braid the strands in a traditional 3 strand braid until your braid is about 22" and then tie another overhand knot.

Position an antique brass foldover crimp near the end of the braid just before the knot, with the loop towards the knot. Place a dab of E6000 glue on the strands inside the crimp. Crimp.

Measure 20" from the crimp and place the second crimp. Place a dab of E6000 glue on the strands inside the crimp. Crimp.

Use flush cutters to trim the twine sticking out of the loop side of the crimp, being careful not to cut off the loop.

Place an antique brass 5mm, 19 gauge jump ring onto one of the crimp loops. Then use a second 5mm jump ring to attach a Vintaj Natural Brass lobster clasp to the other crimp loop.

You may find it helpful to place your necklace on a necklace display bust or drape it over some other object as you complete the rest, it will let you see how the pendants will hang.

Use antique brass 7mm, 18 gauge jump rings to hang an assortment of laser cut wooden leaf, acorn, and owl pendants from your braid. When you hang them, the jump ring should only go through the bottom loop of the braid, and you should hang one from each bottom "bump" across the middle of the braid. Arrange them however you like, and see the photo for placement reference.

Variations
Choose different colors of hemp twine and different styles of laser cut wooden pendants to customize the look of your necklace. When substituting in items, pay attention to sizes and styles to make sure all your pieces will fit together.
