Instructions:
- Begin by sorting your blue agate beads into three size categories: small, medium, and large.
-
Cut three pieces of Soft Flex at one foot long each. Secure one end of each strand with a bead stopper.
-
Onto the first strand, using the small blue agate beads, string the following: an antique brass bead, a serpentine, an antique brass bead, and an agate. Repeat this stringing pattern nine more times and add at the end an antique brass, a serpentine, and finally another antique brass. Secure end and set this strand aside.
-
Onto the second strand, using the medium blue agate beads, string the following: an antique brass bead, a serpentine, an antique brass bead, and an agate. Repeat this stringing pattern ten more times and add at the end an antique brass, a serpentine, and finally another antique brass. Secure end and set this strand aside.
-
Onto the third strand, using the large blue agate beads, string the following: an antique brass bead, a serpentine, an antique brass bead, and an agate. Repeat this stringing pattern ten more times and add at the end an antique brass, a serpentine, and finally another antique brass. Secure end and set this strand aside.
-
Cut six pieces of chain: One at one and a half inches, one at two inches, one at two and a half inches, one at twelve and a half inches, one at thirteen inches, and one at thirteen and a half inches.
-
Attach a 5.25mm jump ring to each end of the three longer pieces of chain.
-
Attach a 5.25mm jump ring to one end of each of the three shorter pieces of chain.
-
Open a 7.25mm jump ring and thread it through the last link of all three shorter pieces of chain, the ends opposite to the jump rings. Close this jump ring again.
-
Thread the natural brass etched toggle bar, face down, onto a headpin. Create a wrapped loop and trim off excess wire.
-
Open a 5.25mm jump ring and use it to join the wrapped loop on the toggle bar to the 7.25mm jump ring containing the three pieces of short chain.
-
Using a bail-making plier or just your round-nose pliers, bend the curved buckle connector in half, leaving some space in the bend.
-
Open the 10mm jump ring and thread it through the bend in the buckle connector. Close jump ring.
-
Using a pair of nylon jaw pliers, squeeze the two halves of the buckle connector together.
-
Open the three jump rings at one end of the three long pieces of chain.
-
Connect them to the 10mm jump ring in order of shortest to longest, from the inside of the necklace to the outside.
-
Remove the bead stoppers from the smallest strand of agate. Add a crimp bead to either end, but do not crimp yet.
-
Thread one end of the strand through the jump ring on the innermost, shortest of the longer pieces of chain, back through the crimp bead, and crimp.
-
Thread the other end of this strand through the jump ring on the innermost, shortest of the short pieces of chain, back through the crimp bead, and crimp.
-
Repeat these steps, connecting the medium strand between the two medium pieces of chain, and the long strand between the longest pieces of chain. Trim off all excess wire.
