Lunar Eclipse Necklace
Project N652 Designer: Julie Bean
The simple bead weaving technique of circular brick stitch suddenly looks very complicated and elegant
when repeatedly done around a twisted rope chain. This necklace will make a beautiful statement whenever
you wear it.

Instructions:
- For this project, you are going to be beading around your heaviest chain, the antique brass twisted rope chain. For the kit, you are purchasing 1 foot of chain. I actually removed a link so that I had the same size link on both ends - your chain may already come this way or may want to do what I did and remove a link.
-
Please watch the video, How to Bead Weave a Circular Brick Stitch Around a Ring. Following what you learned in the video, circular brick stitch a single row of Toho seed beads size 11/0 silver lined crystal around each of the smaller rings. Then, circular brick stitch a first row of Czech seed beads size 8/0 silver lined black diamond and a second row of Toho seed beads size 11/0 silver lined crystal around each of the larger rings.
-
A couple tips for completing the above step. DO NOT SEPARATE YOUR CHAIN LINKS - just bead them on the already joined chain. For the smaller links, cut and thread 24" of Wildfire black beading thread onto a size 10 needle. For the larger links, cut and thread 36" of Wildfire black beading thread onto a size 10 needle. When you need to tie off the thread, please watch the video here on how to do so. Finish beading all your chain links and proceed to the next step.
-
Take your 1 foot of antique brass long and short chain and cut it in half so that you have two 6 inch segments. Next, cut your 2 feet of antique brass long/short etched textured oval chain into 4 segments, each 6 inches long.
-
Separate your clasp, and onto each of the outside loops (on both parts of the clasp), attach one 6 inch segment of the etched textured oval chain via a 4mm jump ring. So for this step you are attaching 4 chain lengths with 4 jump rings to the 4 outer loops on the clasp.
-
For the remaining middle loop on each side of the clasp, attach a 6" length of the antique brass long/short chain to each side via a 4mm jump ring.
-
You can now tell that each side of the necklace will have 3 chain lengths, with the two smaller chains on the outside of the slightly heavier chain which is in the middle. Connect each end of chain to the last beaded ring on each side of the necklace. Attach the chain lengths to the beaded ring using a 8mm antique brass jump ring for each.

All done! Enjoy!
