Roaring Lion Necklace

Make a powerful statement with this striking necklace featuring a fierce looking lion facing off against a coiling snake. Nestled under this focal pendant is another pendant featuring detailed flowers and leaves. Both pendants have been enhanced using Vintaj Patinas.

- To begin, please watch the video, How to Use Vintaj Patinas and Glaze.

Following what you learned in the video, paint a wash of onyx onto the lion and snake pendant. Also paint a wash of agate onto the waterlily pendant. Let both of these dry fully. Once the coats are dry, paint a wash of verdigris over the lion and snake pendant and a wash of moss over the waterlily pendant. Let dry and then use your Vintaj Relief Block to remove some of the paint layers and expose the antique silver plate below.

Fill your antique silver plated bezel with E6000, you want the glue to go all the way to the top. Lay your waterlily pendant into the glue, balancing on top of the bezel pendant. Now place some more E6000 into the center of the waterlily pendant so that it spills over to the top edges of the stamping. Center your lion and snake pendant on top of the waterlily pendant and lay into place. Let all of these pieces dry overnight in a well ventilated area.

Thread your 2 feet of antique silver plated cable chain through your the loop at the top of your pendant. On one end, open a black finish oval jump ring and attach it to the last chain link. Before closing the jump ring, link to it the bar part of your toggle clasp. Repeat this step on the other side of your chain with another jump ring and the ring part of your toggle clasp.

Variations
Use different Vintaj Patina colors to change the look of this necklace.
When substituting in items, pay attention to sizes and styles to make sure all your pieces will fit together.
Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
