Instructions:
- Before you begin, watch the video: How to Make a Chan Luu Style Wrap Bracelet. You will use the same basic technique shown in the video to create this bracelet, with some differences that are noted in the instructions below.
-
Begin by cutting two 3' pieces of 1mm black pleather cord.
-
Fold one cord in half. Place the two ends into the holes in a 23mm crystal tabac dufflecoat button.
-
Tie the other cord around the first, about 3/4" below the button, leaving both ends even after the knot. Tie the knot tightly, but you only need one knot.
-
Place a piece of scrap string through the button holes coming out the other side. Attach these ends to your work surface, as shown in the video. Then, space out your four strands of cord just slightly and attach them to the other end of your work surface, as also shown in the video.
-
Remove your silk string from the card and stretch it out a bit by hand. Cut off the included needle, cutting right next to the needle. You will need every bit of the string, so don't waste any.
-
Tie the silk string in a knot right above the knot you tied with the pleather cord. Make sure the ends of your silk string are even.
-
Place the two smallest big eye needles from your set onto the two ends of your string.
-
Bring your two needles up through the opening between the two leftmost pleather cords. Using these two cords, weave 30 crystal tabac bicone beads down the first row as shown in the video.
-
After the last bead, bring your needles up through the center once more. Then bring the left needle over the cords and around and come up through the two center cords. Bring the right needle over the two center cords and around the third cord to come up through the two center cords.
-
Rotate your work so that your needles are positioned at the top.
-
Now work down the center row as before, weaving one night blue faux pearl, followed by an antique brass faux pearl. Continue to alternate these two faux pearl beads, adding a total of 31 beads.
-
Bring your needles up through the center once more, and then move your strings to the next row as you did before, except moving to the left this time.
-
Rotate your work so that your needles are positioned at the top again.
-
Weave 30 bicone beads down the last row of your bracelet.
-
Remove the needles from your string and hold the ends with the right pair of cords. Tie an overhand knot right after the last bicone bead, making sure to catch both the two strings and the two cords. Pull tight, then trim the ends of the strings after the knot.
-
Tie the left pair of cords into a second overhand knot right after the last bicone bead on that side. Pull tight.
-
Tie all four cords into an overhand knot about 1/2" from the two knots you tied before.
-
If you finish your bracelet here, it will be about 6 1/2". If you need it longer, tie the four cords into a second overhand knot about 3/4" from the last. You can make as many adjustable button loops as necessary to make your bracelet the right size.
-
Pull your overhand knots nice and tight and trim the ends of the cord 1/4" or so after the last one.
-
Place the dufflecoat button through the appropriate loop to close.

Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
