Victorian Elegance Hair Clips

Make an elegant set of beaded and filigree hair clips that will dazzle for your special night out. Czech glass beads have been wire wrapped onto the pretty round filigree, making this piece an heirloom to treasure.

Remember to double these directions to make your matching hair pin set.
- Begin by looking at your hair clip and seeing how the pattern of the filigree creates "rows" of openwork holes. The first row is on the very outer edge and looks like crescent moons. The second row looks like little triangles pointing at each other. The third row looks like little rounds. Keep these rows in mind when reading the directions.

Cut yourself a 36" length of 28 gauge gold colored wire. Thread the wire through one of the triangle shaped holes in the second row so that a 3" tail sticks out one side. Wrap that 3" tail several times in and around an adjacent hole so that you are securing the wire to your filigree. You want the short tail to be coming out the back of the filigree and the long tail coming out the front. String onto the long tail, 1 Czech charlotte 13/0 seed bead in gold, 1 Czech crystal 3mm bicone in black diamond, and another 13/0 seed bead. Now thread the long end of the tail through the triangle hole next to the one you started from, pull all the way through so just the beads rest on the top side of the filigree. Thread the wire tail up through the triangle hole next to the one you just exited so that the tail is again topside. Pull snug. String onto it the same sequence of beads and thread the tail down through the triangle hole next to it. Repeat this pattern all the way around the fil
igree until you get to the place where you started. At this point, wrap the long tail in and out of a neighboring filigree hole until the wire is secure. Using flush cutters, cut both tails off.

Cut yourself a 20" length of 28 gauge gold colored wire. Thread the wire through one of the round shaped holes in the third row so that a 3" tail sticks out one side. Wrap that 3" tail several times in and around an adjacent hole so that you are securing the wire to your filigree. You want the short tail to be coming out the back of the filigree and the long tail coming out the front. String onto the long tail, 1 Czech crystal 4mm bicone in crystal aurum, 1 Czech charlotte 13/0 seed bead in gold, 1 Czech crystal 3mm bicone in black diamond, another 13/0 seed bead, and another 4mm bicone in crystal aurum. Count 4 holes (so you are starting at hole 1) and on the 4th hole, thread your wire down through it and pull snug so that the beads rest of the topside of the filigree. Come back up through the next hole (5th), pull snug, and repeat the same sequence you just did. Repeat this pattern until you are back where you started from. At this point, wrap the long tail in and out of a
neighboring filigree hole until the wire is secure. Using flush cutters, cut both tails off.

Now the easy part! Place a dab of E6000 glue in the center of your filigree. Place into the glue 1 Swarovski ss40 flatback rhinestone is black diamond. Let dry.

Variations
Choose different colored beads to match your jewelry to your outfit.
When substituting in items, pay attention to sizes and styles to make sure all your pieces will fit together.
