Instructions:
This chain has open links, which means that they are not soldered together, and can be opened with pliers. This is great, because you can avoid wasting cut links. To separate lengths of chain for this project, simply open the last link with chain nose pliers, remove the next link, and close it back up.
- Separate a length of Vintaj Natural Brass flat oval link chain 2 3/4" long. Then separate three more lengths that are each one link shorter than the previous. Repeat the last step to give you two each of the shorter lengths.
-
Link up the lengths of chain with one end even and the longest in the center, with each side getting shorter as it moves outward. There should be one chain in the center with 3 on each side that are one link shorter than the previous, as you move to the outside.
-
Watch the video: How to Weave Faux Suede Cord Through Chain. Using the technique demonstrated in the video, weave a 1' length of olive green faux suede cord through the chains. Do six rows of weaving and then finish off as described in the video, using a dab of E6000 adhesive to secure your ends. Allow the glue to dry for at least an hour before moving on.
-
Separate two 9" lengths of chain. Open the last link on each side and connect it to the top corner link on each side of the woven piece.
-
Attach a Vintaj Natural Brass standard hook for jewelry clasps onto one end of the chain. You can then hook it into the other end of the chain to close.
-
Use your Vintaj relief block on a Vintaj Natural Brass Asian window pendant link as demonstrated in this video.
-
Carefully apply some E6000 to the back of your pendant link, keeping to the central square shape, and being sure you don't goop it onto the openings in the pendant. Place your pendant over the woven piece, using the photo for placement reference.
-
Allow all glue to dry for at least 24 hours before wearing.

Variations
Use this same process with different chain, pendant links, and colors of cord to give your necklace a totally different look. When substituting in items, pay attention to sizes and styles to make sure all your pieces will fit together.
Keywords: vintaj, green, brass, relief, chain, woven, suede, leather
Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects. In some cases, adding on just one more package of a component may be all you need to make multiple pieces.
