Carnelian
Did you know that this red-orange variation of Chalcedony was a favorite material used by ancient Egyptian artisans? In fact, many of the personal items found in the tomb of Tut-Ankh-Amun featured Carnelian pieces in their decorative work. Carnelian was also used by the Romans for making seals as the sealing wax doesn’t stick to the stone. Carnelian is a wonderfully rich, warm-looking stone that jewelers prize for its soft luster and intense color. This stone almost glows from within!
BIRTHSTONE: Carnelian is an alternate birthstone for the month of July.
