Dumertorite
This vitreous rock forms under great heat and is found in regions rich in aluminum. Its natural colors include blue, brown, and green, and it is sometimes mistaken for sodalite, and has been used by artisans as imitation Lapis Lazuli. The name of this gemstone comes from the French paleontologist who discovered it in the 1800’s. Because it is a very hard stone, it is ideal for use in jewelry, however it hasn’t yet found as much popularity as some other gemstones.
