Unakite
First discovered in the Unakas Mountains of North Carolina, unakite is altered granite composed of generally clear quartz, green epidote and pink orthoclase feldspar. . It is also referred to as epidotized granite. Generally, Unakite is an opaque stone with veigns of green and pink, sometimes with a little russet or red. Good quality unakite is considered a semiprecious stone and will take a good polish. It is often used in jewelry.
